The knee is a joint. It's actually the largest joint in the body. Your knees provide stability and flexibility for your body and allow your legs to bend, swivel, and straighten. The knee is made up of several parts like bones, cartilage, muscles, ligaments, and tendons, all working as one. Knee injuries could be stress or damage to any of these parts.1

- Men, women, and children of all races and ethnic backgrounds can have knee problems.2
- Diagnosing knee problems might include a medical history, physical examination and diagnostic tests such as x rays, bone scan, CAT scan, MRI, arthroscopy, and biopsy.2
- Some knee problems may be prevented by doing exercises, wearing shoes that fit, and maintaining a healthy weight.2
