Keshan Disease

Keshan disease is a type of heart disease known as cardiomyopathy characterized by the weakness of the heart muscle. It is a fatal condition brought about by selenium deficiency, thus early detection is vital to fighting the disease. Patients must take selenium supplements to prevent worsening of the condition.
