Research Notes on Jett Travolta and Depakote
Jett Travolta, son of John Travolta and Kelly Preston, passed away on January 2, 2009. It is reported that Jett was on the anti-seizure medication Depakote for years, but recently stopped treatment due to a loss of effectiveness. Jett had a history of grand mal seizures and a possible diagnosis of Kawasaki disease.1
Fast Facts:
- Depakote is only one of many medications doctors can prescribe for seizures; others include Lamictal and Clonazepam.
- Depakote is also used in the treatment of bipolar disorder and migraines.2
- It is reported that Jett had a seizure and then hit his head on a bathtub, after which he couldn't be resuscitated.3
