Jett Travolta, son of John Travolta and Kelly Preston, passed away on January 2, 2009. It is reported that Jett was on the anti-seizure medication Depakote for years, but recently stopped treatment due to a loss of effectiveness. Jett had a history of grand mal seizures and a possible diagnosis of Kawasaki disease.1

Fast Facts:

  • Depakote is only one of many medications doctors can prescribe for seizures; others include Lamictal and Clonazepam.
  • Depakote is also used in the treatment of bipolar disorder and migraines.2
  • It is reported that Jett had a seizure and then hit his head on a bathtub, after which he couldn't be resuscitated.3
