Research Notes on Iron Dextran


Iron dextran is an intravenous form of iron which is given to patients suffering from anemia who are unable to take oral forms of iron. The infusion rate is generally slow to be watchful of potential allergic reactions and is usually given once per day. Common side effects include: flushing, headaches, tingling of hands or feet, nausea and dizziness.1
