Research Notes on Intestinal Cancer
Intestinal cancer (also called small intestine cancer, duodenal cancer, ileal cancer, or jejunal cancer) is a rare form of cancer that occurs when cancerous cells are found in the tissues of the small intestine. About 5,000 people are diagnosed with the condition each year in the US.

- The small intestine is a long tube that folds many times to fit inside the abdomen.
- Treatment includes surgery, radiation therapy and/or chemotherapy.
- There are five types of small intestine cancer: adenocarcinoma, sarcoma, carcinoid tumors, gastrointestinal stromal tumor, and lymphoma.
