Research Notes on Internal Bleeding
Internal bleeding refers to any loss of blood that occurs within the body. An internal bleed may not always be obvious, as the initial symptom is just pain. After enough blood loss though, symptoms may include blood in the vomit or stool, dizziness, or low blood pressure.1
Fast Facts:
- Always seek emergency help if internal bleeding is suspected.2
- Internal bleeding may occur as a result of injury to the abdomen, chest, or tissues surrounding broken bones.1
- Chest and abdominal injuries tend to have the greatest risk of internal bleeding.2
