Research Notes on Infertility Testing
Testing for infertility typically takes place after a couple has tried to become pregnant for a year without success. Usually, both partners are tested for issues which could inhibit fertility.1 A typical infertility work-up includes a physical exam, past history, tests to ensure adequate ovulation, semen analysis and various blood tests.2
Fast Facts:
- Over six million American couples have trouble conceiving.3
- In women over the age of 35, infertility testing may be considered after six months of failure to conceive.4
- Some over the counter tests are available to test for fertility issues without physician assistance.5
