Research Notes on Indoor Air Quality


The quality of indoor air affects a persons health, especially those with heart or lung disease. Most people spend 90% of their time indoors. Studies done by the Environmental Protection Agency show that indoor levels of pollutants may be 2-5 times -- and sometimes more than 100 times -- higher than outdoor levels. Various ways to analyze indoor air quality include collecting samples from the surfaces of buildings, and collecting air samples. These can then be analyzed for bacteria, mold, or chemicals.
