Research Notes on Inderal for Migraines
Inderal is a medication often prescribed for the prevention of migraine attacks. Inderal belongs to a class of drugs called beta blockers. How Inderal prevents migraines is not known; however, the beta receptors located in the brain may be involved.1
Fast Facts:
- For treating migraines, the starting dose of Inderal is typically 80 mg a day, taken several times a day in doses of 40 mg.2
- Inderal is a brand name drug for the generic propranolol.3
- Inderal is available in tablets, capsules, or oral solution.3
