Research Notes on Imitrex Side Effects
Common side effects you may experience while using Imitrex include fatigue, dizziness, nausea, and abnormal sensations, such as tingles, warmth, or numbness.1 More severe side effects such as irregular heart rate, shortness of breath, visual problems, or an allergic reaction, should be reported to your physician as soon as possible. In a few rare incidences there were reports of hypoglycemia, unconsciousness, and heart palpitations, however it is not conclusive that these rare side effects were directly linked to Imitrex.2

- You may experience an unusual taste if using Imitrex nasal spray.1
- Imitrex is a brand name for the drug sumatriptan and is used to treat migraine headaches.3
- Because certain drugs may interact with this medication, you should speak to your health care provider about any medicines you are currently taking.3
- You should also tell your physician about other medical conditions you may have or had in the past such as liver disease, high blood pressure, ischemic bowel disease, stroke, or heart disease.3
