Research Notes on IBD Food Diary
A daily food diary is sometimes beneficial for patients who suffer from all types of inflammatory bowel disorders, including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. A food diary is simply a written record of all the foods consumed by the patient, and the amount, each day. Food diaries often help to identify food triggers for Crohn's and colitis flare ups.1
Fast Facts:
- A written record of food intake can also be a tool to ensure that patients are consuming a nutritious diet which is very important in all types of IBD.2
- Food diaries can be as simple or as complex as you would like, the main thing is to include all the foods you eat and how much you ate.2
- Most patients find that it is helpful to include how a dish was prepared (baked, fried, etc) and any additional seasonings that were added.2
