Research Notes on Hysteroscopy
A hysteroscopy is a procedure that examines the inner surface of the uterus. The procedure is done using a thin, lighted tube called a hysteroscope, which is inserted through the vagina and cervix and into the uterus.1 A hysteroscopy is used to diagnose reasons for infertility or abnormal bleeding and as a cancer screening tool. It can also be used to remove the uterine lining, fibroids, polyps, and locate and retrieve IUDs.2
