Research Notes on Hysterosalpingogram
Hysterosalpingogram (HSG) is an X-ray test performed to see the inside of the uterus and fallopian tubes of women. HSG is a common test for women who are having trouble becoming pregnant, but it can also be used to check for other gynecological problems. The hysterosalpingogram is sometimes performed during a laparoscopic surgical procedure.

- During the test, contrast solution is injected (via catheter) into the uterus while X-ray technology captures the images.
- Cramping and discomfort are reported by some women during and after the test.
- If fallopian tubes spasm during the procedure, the test may result in false negative (open tubes actually appear blocked).
