Research Notes on Hypohidrosis
When human sweating is inadequate to meet the needs of the human body, it is referred to as hypohidrosis.1 Skin injuries and atrophy of glands are common causes.1 Anticholinergic drugs and several congenital disorders can cause hypohidrosis as well.1 Heatstroke causes inadequate sweating but this should not be confused with hypohidrosis.1
Fast Facts:
- Hypohidrosis can be harmful as sweating allows excess heat to be released from the body.2
- Anhidrosis differs from hypohidrosis as anhidrosis is the total absence of sweating.2
- Hypohidrosis is also referred to as oligohidrosis.3
