Research Notes on Hydromorphone
Hydromorphone is in a class of drugs called narcotic pain relievers, or opioids. It is used for the treatment of moderate to chronic pain. Hydromorphone is similar to morphine.1
Fast Facts:
- Do not use this medication for mild pain.2
- Side effects can occur such as nausea, vomiting, constipation, headache, mild itching, drowsiness, dry mouth, or weakness.2
- Hydromorphone may be habit-forming.3
- Brand names for hydromorphone include Dilaudid, Hydrostat IR, and Palladone SR.3
