Research Notes on Human Genome Project
The Human Genome Project was an international scientific research project with a goal of determining the sequence of chemical pairs which make up DNA, and to identify the thousands of genes that make up the building blocks of human life. The project took thirteen years coordinated by the U.S. Department of Energy and the National Institutes of Health.

- The Human Genome project was led by Francis S. Collins, M.D., Ph.D.
- The project was planned for 15 years, but the rapid technological advances accelerated the completion date to 2003.
- The Human Genome Project is one of the largest single investigational projects in modern science.
- During the early years of the Human Genome Project, the Wellcome Trust, a British organization became a major partner.
- Additional contributions came from Japan, France, Germany, and China.
