Research Notes on How to Take Your Baby's Temperature
There are a few different methods for taking a baby's temperature. Some people prefer a regular digital thermometer to take a rectal temperature in children under three months of age. For older babies, a digital thermometer may be used rectally or under the arm. Other options include a digital ear thermometer or digital pacifier thermometer. If you are not sure which way would be best to check your baby's temperature, ask your baby's pediatrician for advice.1
