The human mouth contains millions of bacteria. Some of those bacteria are harmless, but others (Plaque) can attack teeth and gums. If not taken care of, plaque can build up and irritate the gums causing bleeding and eventually the loss of bone and connective tissue which may result in the loss of teeth.
