Research Notes on How to Manage Stress
Stress can affect mental and physical well being. While you may not be able to control everything that causes stress, there are ways of coping. Managing stress is about taking charge of what you can control. Taking control of your environment, your reactions, your schedule, and how you think about things is the best way to manage stress. Simple steps such as knowing your limits so you don't over commit yourself, avoiding situations or topics of discussion that you find stressful and talking about your feelings can help reduce stress levels.1
Fast Facts:
- During times of stress take time for yourself to relax.1
- Maintain a healthy lifestyle by eating a balance diet, getting regular exercise, avoid caffeine and get enough sleep.1
- Accept that you cannot control or change everything.1
