Research Notes on How to Inject Insulin
It takes a bit of practice to learn the proper way to inject insulin. It is often recommended that the insulin be injected in the the layer of fat just below the skin.1 After washing your hands and getting your insulin and syringe ready, you are ready to inject the insulin.2
Fast Facts:
- Squeeze about two inches of skin, pulling away from the muscle underneath.1
- Insert the needle into the pinched skin.1
- Inject the insulin by pushing the plunger on the syringe or button on a pen.1
- Release the skin.1
- Remove the needle.1
