Research Notes on How to Get Pregnant

For some couples, getting pregnant happens as easily as having a few sessions of unprotected sexual intercourse. For others, though, conception doesn't happen quite so readily. Understanding when during the menstrual cycle a woman ovulates and timing sexual activity appropriately may be all that is necessary.1 The use of ovulation predictor tests may help a couple to determine the most fertile time to conceive.1

Fast Facts:

  • Have intercourse two or three nights a week.1
  • Both partners should stay away from nicotine and alcohol.1
  • Women under the age of 35 should try to conceive for one year before seeking help. Those 35 and over should seek help after six months.2
