Bad cholesterol (LDL cholesterol) can be decreased with diet, exercise, and cholesterol-lowering medications. Weight loss and a healthy diet can reduce bad cholesterol by up to 20%. Foods that are high in soluble fiber and low in saturated fats are good for lowering bad cholesterol.1
