Research Notes on How is a Kidney Transplant Performed


A kidney transplant is a surgical procedure wherein a patient with severe chronic kidney failure undergoes an operation to replace the kidney. The procedure involves removing a patient’s non-functioning kidney and placing a healthy one from a compatible organ donor. The healthy kidney is surgically connected to nearby blood vessels to compensate for the lost function of the diseased kidney.
