Research Notes on How Many People Have Cancer
A number of organizations provide statistics that give an idea as to how many people have cancer. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), from 2002 through 2004 the two most common forms of cancer were of the prostate and breast. The organization also ranks Maine as the state with the most cancer cases during the same time period.1

- In 2005, it is estimated that over 10 million Amercians had some form of cancer.2
- About 1,500 people die of cancer each day.3
- About 3,400 people are diagnosed with cancer each day.3
