Heart disease in women is more common than most people think. In fact, more women die each year from heart disease than any other disease.1 More than 400,000 women die annually from heart disease.1 Even though women of all ages are susceptible to developing heart disease, women over the age of 40 are more likely to do so.2
Fast Facts:
- More women over the age of 65 die from heart disease than from all of the cancers combined.2
- Risk factors for developing heart disease include smoking, stress, and low levels of estrogen after menopause.2
- Heart disease is the third-leading killer among women ages 25-44.2
