Too much cholesterol (a condition called high cholesterol) can lead to build-up on the walls of the arteries to the heart and brain. This build-up causes narrowed, less flexible arteries (a condition called atherosclerosis). High cholesterol may lead to health conditions such as heart disease, heart attack, and stroke.1
