Research Notes on How Cholesterol Affects Your Heart's Health
Too much cholesterol (a condition called high cholesterol) can lead to build-up on the walls of the arteries to the heart and brain. This build-up causes narrowed, less flexible arteries (a condition called atherosclerosis). High cholesterol may lead to health conditions such as heart disease, heart attack, and stroke.1
Fast Facts:
- A normal total cholesterol level reading is anything under 200mg/Dl.2
- Good cholesterol is called HDL cholesterol, and bad cholesterol is called LDL cholesterol.2
