Research Notes on Hot Flashes
A hot flash (or hot flush) is a symptom of menopause characterized by a sudden feeling of extreme heat accompanied by sweating. Each episode may last from two to thirty minutes and may occur constantly throughout the day and be repeated a few times each week. Hot flashes can be prevented by avoiding known triggers such as stress, caffeine, alcohol, and cigarette smoking.
