Histamine is a body chemical that is responsible for the body’s immune system’s response in allergic reactions. It causes symptoms of allergy such as skin rashes, runny nose, and watery eyes. Histamine stimulates gastric acid secretion. It also functions as a neurotransmitter, transmitting nerve impulses to the brain.
