When a woman has high cholesterol during pregnancy it can increase the risk of developing gestational diabetes or pre-eclampsia.1 Women can lower cholesterol levels by taking extra vitamin C and E, eating healthy foods, exercising, and avoiding alcohol and cigarettes. High cholesterol can trigger a seizure which can threaten the life of the woman and the baby.2 Additionally, if a woman has high cholesterol during their pregnancy it can result in their child acquiring atherosclerosis later in life.2
