Research Notes on Herpes and Pregnancy
When pregnant mothers acquire genital herpes for the first time, and on the last term of pregnancy, there is a great possibility of passing the infection to their babies. The reason is that a newly-infected pregnant woman has not yet produced the disease-fighting antibodies, which could help protect the baby during delivery. Pregnant mothers should take good care of their health and remain infection-free, especially in the last trimester. It is advisable for mothers to avoid unprotected sex, and to monitor their health.
