Research Notes on Hereditary Nonpolyposis Colorectal Cancer


Hereditary nonpolyposis colon cancer -- HNPCC or Lynch syndrome -- is due to an inherited gene mutation. Individuals with HNPCC have about an 80% risk of developing colon cancer, and a higher than normal risk of developing other cancers, such as uterine cancer, stomach cancer, ovarian cancer, bile duct cancer, brain cancer and skin cancer.
