Research Notes on Hereditary Breast Ovarian Cancer Syndrome
Hereditary breast ovarian cancer syndrome (HBOC) is a genetic cause of breast cancer and/or ovarian cancer due to mutations in the BRCA1 or BRCA2 genes. Women with HBOC often develop breast cancer before age 50, and have an increased risk of having both breast cancer and ovarian cancer. Men with HBOC also develop breast cancer, as well as having an increased risk of prostate cancer.
