Salmon, ground flaxseed, oatmeal, black or kidney beans, almonds, walnuts, red wine, tuna, tofu, brown rice, soy milk, blueberries, carrots, spinach, broccoli, sweet potatoes, red bell pepper, asparagus, oranges, tomatoes, acorn squash, cantaloupe, dark chocolate, and tea are the top twenty-five heart-healthy foods.1 The American Heart Association (AHA) created a program that follows certain guidelines for screening foods for saturated fat and cholesterol content. The program is designed for individuals over the age of two and the food products will have a distinctive "heart-check" mark on the packages.2
