There are more deaths contributed to heart disease every year than any other cause of death. Eating heart healthy foods can decrease your chances of developing heart disease. Foods containing saturated fat and trans fat are more likely to cause heart disease than other types of fats. Healthy fruits, vegetables and grains are good for heart health.1

- Fresh herbs can be substituted for salt to lower the sodium in your diet.
- Eating one ounce of almonds per day can lower LDL levels by 13% - 20%.2
- Omega-3 fatty acids increase HDL levels and lower blood pressure. These acids are found in fish.
- Flaxseed can prevent stroke and blood clots.3
