Among African-American women, heart disease is the number one cause of death.1 African-American women are 35% more likely to die from heart disease than their white counterparts. Risk factors such as obesity, diabetes, and high blood pressure contribute to the significant number of African-American women with heart disease. Research has shown that African-American women were least aware of information vital to preventing heart disease.2

  • African-American women are the least likely to receive information from health care professionals regarding heart disease.2
