Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States.1 However, there are ways a person can cut his or her risk of developing heart disease. High cholesterol is a major risk factor for heart disease, so if you or someone you know has high cholesterol, it's important to treat it and get it to a healthy level.2 Maintaining an active lifestyle is another way to cut the risk of heart disease.
