Research Notes on Healthy Meats


The American Heart Association lists a few guidelines in selecting healthy meats. Choose lean or extra lean pieces (less than 15% fat). When purchasing cuts of meat with grades listed on the package, the healthier cuts are "choice" or "select," not "prime." Fish, seafood, and poultry should be skinless.
