Research Notes on Healthy Beans and Legumes

Beans and legumes should be included as part of a healthy diet. Legumes are a great source of complex carbohydrates, fiber, protein, and minerals such as magnesium, potassium, and zinc. They are also low in fat. Beans are filled with protein and fiber, and are also packed with antioxidants. Black beans in particular are a good choice. Including beans and legumes in your diet can be as easy as tossing them into your favorite salad.
