Research Notes on Haldol and Seizures
Haldol is a prescription medication used in the treatment of emotional problems, mental problems, and nervous problems. One of the common side effects related to this medication is the risk of seizures.1
Fast Facts:
- Haldol should not be used in patients who have had severe depression or conditions such as Parkinson's disease.2
- Seizures usually last less than 30 seconds and can be caused by several factors such as high fevers, medications, head injuries, and epilepsy.3
- Haldol should be used with caution in patients with: history of thyroid problems, seizure disorders, drug allergies, liver problems, and prostate problems.4
