Research Notes on HIV Drug Linked to Heart Attacks


Abacavir, an anti-AIDS cocktail which the FDA refers to as the preferred choice in HIV care, could increase the possibility that long term HIV patients would have a heart problem. The drug may more than double the chances of a heart attack, although researchers caution that Abacavir's heart attack risk was low to begin with.
