Research Notes on Glucagon
Glucagon is a hormone that helps to raise blood glucose levels. It is used in those who have severe insulin-induced hypoglycemia or are in insulin shock. Glucagon works the opposite way that insulin works. It may also be used to treat blood pressure medication overdose.1
Fast Facts:
- Glucagon is sold under the brand name GlucaGen.2
- Side effects may include nausea, rash, vomiting, and itching.3
- Should not be used in those suffering from pheochromocytoma.4
