Research Notes on Gestational Diabetes Treatment


Gestational diabetes treatment may include changing your diet, adding exercise, and medication. For diet modification you may be asked to limit sweets, eat smaller meals, and include more fiber in your diet. Some women require insulin to regulate their blood sugar.1

  • All women are screened for gestational diabetes during pregnancy between 24 and 28 weeks.3
  • The high blood sugar levels will go back to normal after the baby is born.4
