Research Notes on Genetic Diseases
Genetic diseases are caused by abnormalities in a person's genes or chromosomes. Some genetic diseases are inherited while some are a combination of lifestyle changes or environmental changes. Genetic diseases are usually diagnosed and treated by geneticists. Some common diseases caused by genetics are Down syndrome and cystic fibrosis. Another common genetic disease which is relatively unheard of is called velocardiofacial syndrome. Testing for genetic diseases can be performed using blood, hair, skin, amniotic fluid and other tissues.
