Research Notes on Gastroparesis and Norovirus


Gastroparesis is delayed gastric emptying of stomach contents. One of the causes of gastroparesis are acute viral infections such as norovirus, Epstein-Barr virus and herpes simplex virus. It is believed that inflammation of the stomach during a viral infection may damage the nerves of stomach and may lead to development of gastroparesis.
