Research Notes on Gastrointestinal Disorders
Gastrointestinal disorders are disorders that interfere with the proper functioning of the small, and large intestines.1 They occur anywhere in the gastrointestinal tract, from the mouth to the anus.2 General symptoms include loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting blood, changes in urine color, and weight loss.3
Fast Facts:
- Can either be functional or inflammatory disorders.1
- Can lead to anorexia because patients associate eating with unpleasant symptoms, and so they eat less.1
- Can be prevented or minimized by maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and practicing good bowel habits.4
