Research Notes on Gamma-Carotene
Biochemically, there are four types of carotene: alpha, beta, delta and gamma. The most common and important of all is the beta-carotene, a precursor for vitamin A. Each type of carotene is almost molecularly identical to one another since they all have a lycopene molecular structure. Gamma-carotene, which is similar to beta-carotene, is also a precursor of vitamin A and has more pro-A activity than beta-carotene.
