Research Notes on GABA
Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) is an amino acid and neurotransmitter in the brain.1 It is responsible for inducing relaxation and sleep. It also regulates a person's anxiety.2

- It was first discovered to be an important part central nervous system in 1950.1
- Alcohol effects GABA receptors.1
- Stimulates the anterior pituitary, which leads to higher levels of human growth hormone.2
