Research Notes on Gallbladder Cancer
Gallbladder cancer is a rare disease in which cancer cells are found in the gallbladder tissue.1 It begins in the innermost layer of tissue and as it grows, it spreads to the outer layer.2 Early gallbladder cancer is usually undetected, as it often causes no symptoms. Only in the late stages do symptoms usually occur, such as high fever, and pain in the upper right-hand side of the abdomen.3 Treatment options depend on the stage of the cancer, whether it is completely removed surgically, and whether it is recurring, or newly diagnosed.4
