Research Notes on Formaldehyde
Formaldehyde is an organic gas with the formula HCHO, readily soluble in water. Formaldehyde is best known as a disinfectant, as a preservative, and as being important in plastics manufacture. It was found to be a product of creatine metabolism. As formaldehyde can damage proteins and DNA molecules, some toxicologists believe that chronic overproduction of formaldehyde linked to long-term consumption of creatine supplements, might lead to vascular damage and diabetic complications.
