Research Notes on Food Allergies and Eczema
Food allergies cause eczema to worsen in about one third of eczema patients. Eczema, also called atopic dermatitis, is a skin rash. Having eczema makes it difficult to test for allergies. Avoiding foods that a person is allergic to may reduce eczema symptoms.1
Fast Facts:
- Eggs, milk, peanuts, soy, and wheat are the most common food allergies that may trigger eczema.1
- All new eczema patients should be tested for food allergies.1
- Eczema is most common on the knees, elbows, cheeks, and extremities.1
